Creating Scheduled QR Codes

Learn how to create scheduled QR codes that automatically send people to different websites based on time, date, or randomized landing.

Scheduled QR codes automatically send people to different websites based on time schedules, dates, or time-sensitive conditions. Perfect for events with changing ticket availability, product launches with countdown timers, restaurants with daily menus, or any content that needs to change dynamically over time without reprinting new QR codes.

Step 1: Create Your Events List

QRFirst dashboard showing Create New List option

Start by creating an "Events" list to organize your QR codes. This list will act as a container for all your event-related QR codes, keeping them organized and easy to manage.

Naming Your List:

  • Call it "Events" or "Event QR Codes"
  • This list will contain all your event-related QR codes
  • You can create separate lists for different categories if needed

Step 2: Create Your Scheduled QR Code

Within your Events list, add a new QR code for your specific event. Give it a descriptive title that includes the event name and year, like "Music Festival 2024" or "Conference 2024".

Best Practices:

  • Use clear, descriptive names including event name and year
  • Each QR code represents one specific event
  • This QR code will contain all the time-based redirects for this event

Step 3: Set Up Your Scheduled Redirects

Add your destination URLs and set when each should be active. Smart QR codes can automatically send people to different websites based on time, date, or other conditions. Each URL can have its own activation schedule and priority level.

URL Configuration Process:

  • Add URLs: Enter your website addresses (tickets, schedule, recordings, etc.)
  • Set Timing: Configure when each URL should become active

Conference Example

Day 1: Conference Schedule
Day 2: New Schedule
After: Session Recordings

Product Launch

Before: Coming Soon Page
Launch Day: Product Page
After: Full Website

Restaurant

Morning: Breakfast Menu
Afternoon: Lunch Menu
Evening: Dinner Menu

Step 4: Test and Download Your Scheduled QR Code

Test scanning interface and download options

Before sharing your QR code publicly, test it thoroughly to ensure all time-based redirects work correctly. Once tested, generate and download your QR code in your preferred format.

Testing and Generation Checklist:

  • Click each destination URL to verify it loads correctly
  • Check that activation times are set properly for each URL
  • Test the QR code with your phone to verify real-world scanning
  • Print a test QR code and scan it to ensure physical printing works
  • Download SVG for scalable printing

Once everything is tested and working correctly, your QR code is ready to use! You can print it, embed it in digital content, or share it directly as needed.
